Club Trip: Lower Owens No. 2

The club will be running the second Lower Owens trip of the season on Feb 15 to 17, 2008. On the morning of the 16th, everyone will meet at the bridge in the campground to pair new members with more experienced ones. Most people meet at Jack’s for breakfast on Saturday and The Pizza Factory for dinner Saturday night.

The pre-trip meeting will be held on Friday, Feb 8, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Rec Park Social Hall.

Just because the clubhouse is unavailable to us now doesn’t mean that we’re not having meetings. The meetings are being held across 7th Street in the Recreation Park Community Center, which is just south of Federation (the street in front of the clubhouse and pond). The meeting is at 7:00 p.m.

Beginning Fly Tying Class to Resume Jan 22, 2008

Great News!

The Long Beach Casting Club’s Beginning Fly Tying classes will restart on January 22, 2008, 7:00 PM, in the Patient Education Building (#8 on the VA Visitor Guide Map) at the Long Beach Veteran’s Hospital. Rex Jennings, Chief of Voluntary Services, has graciously offered a classroom at no charge, at the VA Hospital to continue our classes while our clubhouse is being restored.

This class will not be our standard Fly Tying class due to the time left in this year. After the clubhouse is restored you are welcome to take the class next year to brush up and learn all the flies normally taught.

Pond Cleaning - Dec. 30, 2007

Ok, the clubhouse is closed while we rebuild, but the pond still needs upkeep. There will be a pond cleaning and target cleaning/repair on Sunday December 30, 2007 starting at 8:00 a.m. You provide the lawn chair and labor and Mark Flo will provide the donuts. See you there!
